What's new

PayCycle improves week by week. The highlights, newest first.

28 July 2026

A sharper front door, two days in

  • The live demo now starts where you work: arriving from the subcontractor page opens straight onto cashflow — what you're owed and when — with the full console one click away, and a gentle banner reminding you it's a shared sample account whenever you're ready for your own trial.
  • The pricing page no longer scrolls sideways on phones — the comparison table now behaves on every screen width.
  • A name behind the product: the footer and security page now say who builds PayCycle (Aaron Hallett MRICS, Chartered Quantity Surveyor), and our terms gain a written continuity commitment — at least 90 days' notice and full data export if we ever closed.
  • The free Payment Notice Checker now offers a free trial straight after your verdict, and the founding offer (50% off your first 3 months, first 10 accounts) is visible site-wide instead of hiding on the pricing page.
26 July 2026

PayCycle is live

  • PayCycle is now open to everyone — no invite needed. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial of the full product, no card up front.
  • The founding-member offer is real and applied at checkout: 50% off your first 3 months, limited to the first 10 accounts. Waiting-list members: your first-month-free code is in your launch email, typed at checkout.
  • The site is now visible to search engines, and the live demo remains one click away for anyone who wants to look around before signing up.
  • To everyone who tested during the private beta: thank you — your feedback shaped what launched today. Your free trial restarts from today, so you have a fresh two weeks to pick the plan that suits you. Your projects and data are exactly where you left them.

A free Payment Notice Checker, open to everyone

  • Check any payment notice or pay less notice at paycycle.uk/tools/notice-checker: enter the dates and get a plain-English, traffic-light verdict on whether it's valid and served in time, plus the full timeline and what to check in your contract.
  • Statutory deadlines are worked out under section 116 of the Construction Act, so bank holidays, Christmas Day and Good Friday are excluded from the count rather than assumed as ordinary days.
  • No account needed — it's linked in the footer of every page, and it's the fastest way to see PayCycle's deadline logic before you join the waiting list.
14 July 2026

Notice checker: sharper dates, easier to read

  • Day counts around bank holidays now match section 116 exactly, so a deadline spanning Easter or the festive break lands on the right day.
  • An accuracy and accessibility pass the same day, so the verdict reads clearly on every device and screen reader.

Launch day: guided tours, tighter inputs and a self-watching site

  • Take a tour on every page: a guided walkthrough now covers each dashboard tab and record view — it starts automatically for new users and the demo, and can be re-run any time from the sidebar.
  • Inputs that keep you right: money fields cap at 2 decimal places, dates must be real calendar dates within sensible bounds, and email, VAT and company-number fields warn when something looks off.
  • Margins now read as whole percentages everywhere, and the shared demo resets itself overnight so it always shows a clean, realistic three-project portfolio.
  • Behind the scenes: production errors now alert us within minutes, independent security reviews of the browser attack surface came back clean, and our ICO registration (ZC185362) is on the privacy page.
  • The waiting list is open — welcome to everyone arriving from the launch post.

Photo & document evidence, and a one-click Xero export

  • All your evidence in one place: photos and supporting PDFs attached to an Application for Payment now show on the application itself, not only inside the line-by-line review.
  • Attach documents, not just photos — upload delivery tickets, certificates or any PDF alongside site photos on applications and variations.
  • Large photos are handled for you: they're resized automatically as you upload, so a phone photo won't eat your storage. Photos up to 8 MB, PDFs up to 15 MB.
  • Send invoices straight to Xero: a new Xero-formatted export sits beside the accountant CSV, with UK dates, the correct tax rates (including the construction domestic reverse charge) and your sales account ready to import.
  • A clear terms step at sign-up: new accounts confirm they've read and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, recorded for your records.
12 June 2026

Sharper numbers, calmer screens

  • Every figure in the app now reads like money, not code: proper typefaces with lining figures throughout, amounts right-aligned in every table so the digits line up, and references kept neatly on one line.
  • Locked contract terms display the way a QS writes them — £1,320,000 instead of 1320000, and dates in plain English instead of computer format.
  • A calmer canvas: screens sit on a soft grey background with white cards, toolbars are solid instead of see-through while you scroll, and the invoices page leads with four figures instead of eight boxes.
  • Smaller touches across the board: a slimmer getting-started checklist that only shows what's left, project pages with a compact header, the project directory now reads as a clean list until you choose to edit, and a tidied account area in the side menu.
11 June 2026

A new front door

  • The website got a ground-up redesign in the mould of the industry's most established tools: a product-led hero, a how-it-works story that follows your scroll, and bold full-bleed sections.
  • Hand-drawn graphics that draw themselves as you reach them — the payment timeline, the notice calendar — plus an honest FAQ. No stock photos, no invented logos or testimonials: those spaces are reserved for the real thing.
  • Inside the app: every screen now sketches its own shape while it loads instead of popping in blank, every stat card and status chip is cut from the same cloth, the sign-in and account screens match the rest of the product, and Settings is organised into clear sections with its own mini navigation.

Hardened where it matters: money, notices and records

  • Change your bank details or payment keys and PayCycle now emails you immediately and keeps a permanent security log — so a hijacked account can't quietly redirect your invoices.
  • Issued invoices are locked: corrections happen through proper credit notes (one click, cross-referenced), the VAT tax point is set when you issue, and the CIS suffered statement now follows HMRC's paid basis.
  • Every payment-cycle date is recomputed from your locked contract terms — including bank-holiday rules — and the assessment flags any date that disagrees with the AI's reading.
  • Pay Less Notices now require the basis of calculation (what adjudicators look for) and show the previously notified sum; certificates are stored exactly as issued, so what you show later is what went out.
  • Online payments only mark an invoice paid when the amount actually matches, duplicate payment events are ignored, and account deletion now warns about your six-year VAT/CIS record-keeping duty.
  • Try sample projects now seeds a three-project demo portfolio — a JCT job mid-payment-cycle, an NEC4 project with money flowing (paid CIS invoice, remittance, application awaiting assessment), and an early-stage fit-out with cost plan and tenders.
10 June 2026

Dark mode, a project directory, and a proper risk register

  • Day & night: a Light / Dark / System toggle in the sidebar and site header — your choice is remembered, and System follows your device.
  • Project directory: the people on each job (client, contractor, architect and more) in one place — your client is added automatically, and chase emails now offer the right contact instead of re-typing addresses.
  • Risk register, rebuilt to UK practice: room to write properly, plus cause and consequence, owner, response strategy, action-by dates and residual scores after mitigation.
  • Variations and Risks get their own registers in the sidebar — everything across all projects in one filterable table, plus quick-jump chips on every project page.
  • Help now lives inside the dashboard, the invoices table gained an Overdue filter (cashflow and dashboard alerts land straight on it), and the CIS page can filter by payer.
10 June 2026

Bug reporting, and everything is clickable

  • Report a bug from the sidebar with a guided prompt — attach a screenshot so we can see exactly what you saw; the page and browser are captured automatically.
  • Every report is tracked through to fixed in a new triage register — you'll see the results in this changelog.
  • The dashboard's attention list, stat cards and deadline rows now click through to where the work happens; closed and archived items tidy themselves away across the app.
  • Dozens of small flow fixes: clearer empty states, pre-filtered landings from dashboard alerts, and a proper page for expired submission links.
9 June 2026

Sample project, paste from Excel, and deadlines in your calendar

  • Try a sample project: one click creates a realistic JCT Design & Build demo — locked contract terms, an assessed application mid-cycle, a variation, milestones and risks — so you can explore everything before adding your own work. Delete it like any project.
  • Paste from Excel: copy line items straight from a spreadsheet into manual applications and cost plans — pound signs, commas and bracketed negatives all understood.
  • Subscribe to your deadlines: a private calendar feed puts every payment and notice deadline into Outlook, Google or Apple Calendar, updating automatically.
9 June 2026

A sharper look, an animated tour, and clearer pricing

  • Redesigned public site: new display typeface, calmer motion, dark footer, and a self-playing product tour showing contract reading, AI review and notices.
  • Pricing page: pick a plan to highlight it, a clearer monthly/annual control, and the founding-member offer now plainly limited to the first 10 accounts.
  • Compare page: honest, category-by-category comparisons with the bigger names — Procore, CostX, the contractor ERPs and the trusty spreadsheet.
  • Cookie transparency: PayCycle sets essential cookies only — the privacy policy now lists each one by name, purpose and duration.
9 June 2026

Security hardening round

  • Stripe keys you store with us are now encrypted at rest with an extra application-level layer (AES-256-GCM).
  • Payment webhooks gained replay protection; secret checks are constant-time; reminder emails are rate-limited.
  • Waitlist emails now carry a working one-click unsubscribe.
8 June 2026

Subscription billing groundwork

  • Paddle checkout built and tested end-to-end in sandbox, ready to switch on at launch — beta stays free throughout.
7 June 2026

Waiting list opens

  • Public waiting list with founding-member terms for early sign-ups.
  • Status monitoring endpoint and continuous integration checks on every change.
31 May 2026

The whole commercial lifecycle lands

  • Variations & change control: JCT variations and NEC compensation events with an 8-stage workflow, five valuation methods, EOT and loss & expense — agreed changes feed the next valuation automatically.
  • CA certificates suite: interim payment, practical completion, non-completion, making good and final certificates, branded and print-ready.
  • Cost plans (NRM1/SMM7) with AI benchmarking, tender comparison, risk register and programme milestones.
  • CVR and cashflow reporting with Excel export.
25 May 2026

The foundation: contract-aware payments

  • AI contract reading for the full JCT 2016/2024 and NEC3/NEC4 families — every term cited to its clause and page, checked and locked by you.
  • Line-by-line AI review of Applications for Payment against the locked contract.
  • Payment & Pay Less Notices with Construction Act timing, VAT/CIS-aware invoicing, retention tracking and the deadlines calendar.
